Winter 2026 : The Dinosaurs Discovered This Season
There has been two significant new dinosaurs discovered this winter!
I'll start with Haolong dongi, from China.

A 125-million-year-old dinosaur just rewrote what we thought we knew about prehistoric life. Scientists in China have uncovered an exceptionally preserved juvenile iguanodontian with fossilized skin so detailed that individual cells are still visible. Even more astonishing, the plant-eating dinosaur was covered in hollow, porcupine-like spikes—structures never before documented in any dinosaur.
This is AMAZING!!! Oh, and if that's not enough, read this :
When discovered, it was remarkably well preserved. So well, there were scales.
Soft tissues rarely survive for millions of years, yet in this case, even microscopic details endured.
The specimen found was also a juvenile.

Next we have Spinosaurus mirabilis, from the Sahara Desert!
From the images, you may have noticed the unusual crest on the top of its head, possibly used to attract a mate. Thanks to the journal Science, we know that there was a layer of "keratin*" which would make the crest even larger in life. It lived in a lush forested area, and fed off of fish.
See you soon, with more awesome dinosaur facts!
